What is VEDS or Victorian Emergency Dental Services

Local community dental clinics may not be able to provide emergency treatment to residents of rural areas or outer-metropolitan areas. When this happens, you may be offered a voucher so you can receive treatment at a private dentist.

Understanding VEDS or Victorian Emergency Dental Services

The cost will be the same as you would pay at a community dental clinic. At this time, only the problems requiring emergency care will be addressed. As far as other general treatments are concerned, you will have to wait for a community dental clinic or a private dentist to treat you.

  • Vouchers for emergency services are valid for 28 days after they are issued.
  • Before your appointment, you are eligible to pay $26.00. Your voucher will cover up to $273.00 in emergency treatment.

(Amounts quoted are valid as of March 2012).
